2026-2027 Communities of Practice

Choose a CoP focused on your content area (or attend all!) and get practical strategies, fresh perspectives, and real solutions to your challenges, straight from peers who get it. Through facilitated discussions and shared resources, you'll build a supportive network across Wisconsin's Head Start community that lasts well beyond a single training.

How It Works

The Schedule:
WHSA's Communities of Practice include four virtual series throughout the year (Fall, Winter, New Year and Spring):

The Content Areas:
Within each series, participants can access six content-specific Communities of Practice: Coaches and Education Managers/Specialists, ERSEA and Family Services, Health and Nutrition, Mental Health and Inclusion/Disabilities, Human Resources and Data Management.

Each of the six Communities of Practice meets virtually for a 90-minute facilitated session during the Fall, Winter, and New Year series, providing opportunities to learn, collaborate, and connect with peers facing similar opportunities and challenges.

Spring Series: The learning continues in spring with a special 90-minute virtual keynote focusing on challenging behaviors followed by a 30-minute facilitated discussion for Communities of Practice participants. This shared experience brings participants together to explore new ideas, reflect on learning, and continue building connections across Wisconsin's Head Start community.

When you register for Communities of Practice, you have access to attend any and all of these 19 virtual sessions — attendance at every session isn't required. Come to the ones that fit your role, your interests, and your schedule.

Who Is This For?

Communities of Practice are designed for Head Start and Early Head Start professionals across a variety of roles, including: Coaches and Education Managers/Specialists | ERSEA and Family Services staff  | Health and mental health professionals | Inclusion and disabilities specialists | HR professionals | Data management staff

New This Year: In-Person CoP at Conference
By popular request, we're adding an in-person Communities of Practice session, happening Monday at the WHSA Annual Training Conference in February.

Important: This is not included in standard CoP registration. Standard registration gets you full access to the 4 virtual CoP series: Fall, Winter, New Year and Spring.

To attend the in-person session, you'll need to attend the conference with:

• A Monday Conference Day Pass
• A Full Conference Registration

Save with a Learning Bundle
